Pro-choice pickets to fight for women’s rights

Issue No. 2295

Pro-choice campaigners are organising against the bigots in London.

They will hold counter-pickets at the BPAS clinic at Bedford Square in central London on the next two Sundays between 12 noon and 4pm.

Some met last Sunday to show their opposition to the anti-choice picket.

Gabriel, who works in the area, said he was pleased to see the pro-choice activists. “We need to stop the anti-choice people while they are small,” he told Socialist Worker.

London student Dot said she was there “to support women and show there is another side to the debate”.

Jim, an NUJ union member, said the anti-choice pickets were distorting the issue of abortion. “Abortion is not killing a child, it is a medical procedure,” he said.

“There’s a difference between free speech and harassing women.”

Protest against the bigots. Sunday 25 March and 1 April, 12 noon, British Pregnancy Advisory Service, 26-27 Bedford Square, London WC1B 3HP
