Police say - we’re not athletes

Issue No. 2295

Police have been eating too many doughnuts. That seems to be the conclusion of the Windsor review into police pay and recruitment.

It found that more than half of male Metropolitan Police officers are overweight.

Police officers now face the prospect of annual health checks. Those who repeatedly fail could be sacked.

Between snacks officers found time to denounce the review’s findings as “unhelpful jibes”. One officer added, “I’m not some kind of athlete. It’s much too simplistic to think that police officers spend their days chasing people and climbing walls.”
