Thousands of people have taken to the streets of Morocco against laws which can force women to marry their rapists.
The law states that a rapist can marry a teenage victim to escape prosectution and to restore the woman’s “honour”.
The laws have been long-hated, but the protests come in response to the death of 16 year old Amina Filali. Amina killed herself with rat poison last week after she was severely beaten during a forced marriage to her rapist. Her parents attended the protest in the capital Rabat.
Protesters are now calling for the trial judge who ordered the marriage to be imprisoned.
