Teachers ballot to defend rep

Issue No. 2296

Teachers in the NUT at the BSix sixth form college in Hackney, east London, are balloting for strikes in defence of union rep James Drummond, who is facing disciplinary action. An indicative ballot recently saw a resounding vote for strikes over the issue.

Croydon lecturers strike to stop cuts

Lecturers at Croydon College struck for two hours on Wednesday of last week against cuts and redundancies.

The workers, in the UCU union, are already suffering from cuts at the college.

Some 93 people lost their jobs at the central site last year—and those who remain are now threatened with more cuts.
