A memorial protest for Christopher Alder, who died in Kingston upon Hull police station in 1998, was set to take place on Sunday.
Christopher’s sister Janet Alder has called for as large a protest as possible. The RMT union has provided a coach to transport people to the event from London.

Mass meeting at BAE Systems vows to fight
Some 1,300 workers held a mass meeting at the BAE Systems military aircraft factory in Brough, near Hull, on Wednesday of last week.
They voted to continue the fight to keep their plant open.
BAE Systems announced 899 redundancies at the site last year. It has since announced its intention to close the site.
Tenants reject sell off plans
Tenants in Flintshire, North Wales, have voted against privatisation by a resounding 88 percent on a 71 percent turnout.
The anti-stock transfer campaign united tenants, trade unions and councillors.
The council and would-be landlord spent £1 million on the yes campaign.
Tenants were not fooled.
Wildcat walkout in Warrington post
Post workers at Warrington delivery office walked out on unofficial strike on Wednesday of last week.
The CWU union members were protesting over disciplinary action taken against a worker.
Around 200 workers walked out early in the morning and returned around 12 noon after the CWU and management reached an agreement.
The action caused disruption to post to hundreds of addresses.
Angry workers take on Clarke
Around 40 angry public sector workers protested at Tory justice secretary Kenneth Clarke’s constituency AGM on Friday of last week in Rushcliffe, Nottinghamshire.
Clarke accepted an open letter from a PCS union member in the constituency.
