A police officer racially abused a black man in London the day after last summer’s riots. The man turned on his mobile phone to record the abuse.
One officer, identified by investigators as PC Alex MacFarlane, tells him, “The problem with you is you will always be a nigger.”
The arrested man from Beckton, east London, says he was made to feel “like an animal” when he was stopped in his car.
He accuses another officer of strangling him. On the recording he tells one officer, “You tried to strangle me.” The officer replies, “No, I did strangle you.”
MacFarlane has since been suspended. The Crown Prosecution Service has so far not brought any charges against him.
