Trayvon demo at US embassy

Issue No. 2297

About 200 people protested outside the US embassy in London last Saturday over the killing of Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Florida.

The protest was called by Campaign 4 Justice, Ava Vidal, Tottenham Defence Campaign, Barac and Inquest, and supported by Defend the Right to Protest.

Trayvon, an unarmed black teenager, was shot dead by George Zimmerman, a white neighbourhood watch “captain” who has not faced charges for the killing.

The death of Trayvon has sparked protests across the US. Thousands marched to demand justice in Sanford over the weekend.
