Greek cuts chief heckled in London

Issue No. 2297

Protests greeted Poul Thomsen, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission chief to Greece, as he spoke at the London School of Economics last Wednesday.

The protest was shown on Greek TV. Greek solidarity campaigners protested outside the entrance to the meeting, chanting against austerity and leafleting those entering.

Thomsen is a lead player in the “troika” of the IMF, European Union and European Central Bank.

As the meeting ended several in the lecture theatre chanted, “We don’t want your bailout, take your money and get out.”
