George Galloway’s stunning victory in Bradford has created an opportunity that we must grasp with both hands.

The local elections on 3 May can be a springboard to establishing a real electoral challenge to the Con-Dems and the feeble Labour opposition.

Across the country there are a range of people standing as left of Labour candidates and we should throw ourselves into the campaign to elect left councillors.

I will be standing in Preston. We hope the “Bradford Spring” will sweep over the Pennines and reignite our electoral presence in the city.

But for us to make the most of this opportunity we desperately need the help of all Socialist Worker readers.

We need your money to print the leaflets and raise our campaign profile. No amount of money is “too little”!

But just as important as any donation is your presence in Preston to help during the campaign. If you can give any time to leaflet, canvas or help on election day, please do so.

We have a chance to help re-shape electoral politics in Britain. You can make a difference by coming along.

Please send your cheques to Preston Independent Socialists, c/o 10 Yewlands Crescent, Fulwood, Preston PR2 9QS. Phone Michael on 07739 729214 if you can help in any way
