by Des Mannay
Issue No. 2299

Grants for Wales’s poorest students are to be cut by around 15 percent.

The Welsh Assembly government is slashing its assembly learning grant and special support grant by £600 for the next intake of university students.

Meanwhile Newport University in Gwent is to have 20 percent fewer student places next year.

A cut in funding from the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales will cut the annual intake of students.
