Mark Krantz: We can fight back against the cuts

Manchester TUSC candidates Mark Krantz and Collette Williams are contesting seats in the Chorlton and Moss Side wards. Mark spoke to Socialist Worker.

Issue No. 2299

“I’ve been involved in election campaigns for seven years, and I’ve never seen such a positive response.

I’ve met a resident who’s about to lose her job. She got one of our leaflets and is coming out canvassing.

A man came up to my stall and said that he’d always voted Labour, but he’ll never vote for them again.

We’ve got health workers, council workers and education workers involved—almost all of whom were on strike on 30 November.

If the Tories have their way on pensions and pay they will take £2 million from public sector workers in Chorlton in the next year.

There is a proposal to convert Chorlton High School into an academy. We’re organising a protest to lobby the governors.

Academies are a step towards privatising education, People have had enough.

If Manchester elects a trade unionist, socialist, anti-cuts councillor it will show that Bradford wasn’t a one-off.

And it will also show that we can fight back against the cuts.”
