Students fight rising fee levels

Issue No. 2299

Students are set to join a lobby of parliament organised by the National Union of Students (NUS) on Wednesday of this week.

Rising fees are driving students away from applying to universities—and causing a funding crisis leading to universities cutting places.

Mark Bergfeld from the NUS national executive told Socialist Worker, “The lobby is a good opportunity for students to put pressure on MPs.

“But activists at NUS conference next week will be fighting for a national demonstration to bring student anger onto the streets.”

The lobby will be followed at 4.30pm by an open air rally at Rootstein Hopkins Parade Ground, Chelsea College of Art & Design, Atterbury Street, London SW1P 4JU
