Hung jury in Alfie Meadows case

The jury returned their verdict in the trial of Alfie Meadows and four other student protesters today, Wednesday.

Alfie Meadows, Colin Goff, Zac King, Vishnu Wood and Jack Locke were accused of violent disorder on the anti-fees demonstration outside parliament on 9 December 2010.

The jury was unable to reach a majority verdict in the cases of Alfie Meadows and Zac King. They could now face a retrial.

Colin Goff, Vishnu Wood and Jack Locke were all acquitted of violent disorder.

Vishnu Wood and Jack Locke also faced a charge of arson. Vishnu Wood was acquitted, while Jack Locke was found guilty of this charge.

Jack will be sentenced in the coming weeks.
