Picturing Politics is a free exhibition at the People’s History Museum in Manchester that charts the history of the political poster in 20th century Britain.
It includes over 60 posters from all the mainstream political parties urging people to vote for them. The show focuses on themes such as the representation of families—and the use of pipe smoking as a symbol of trustworthiness.
Picturing Politics: Exploring the Political Poster in Britain is on at the People’s History Museum, Manchester M3 3ER, until 17 June. Go to www.phm.org.uk
