Strikes underway to save Kilmarnock factory

Issue No. 2300

Some 520 workers at Mahle Engineering in Kilmarnock near Glasgow began the first round of planned strikes on Tuesday of this week.

The workers are members of the Unite union.

They plan to strike for three days a week against company attempts to run the factory down.

The union has been in prolonged negotiations over the company’s reluctance to discuss the plant’s future with its workforce.
