In the spending spree to mark the run-up to the queen’s diamond jubilee, a million pound row barge has been launched on the River Thames.
The Gloriana is decorated with gold leaf and will be a key component of this summer’s Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant—a 1,000-strong flotilla of posh boats.
It cost around £1 million and was partly built with wood from sweet chestnut trees grown on Prince Charles’s private estate.
The flotilla will take 90 minutes to pass any one point. Plenty of time for a protest.
