Talks in Nottingham school dispute

The NUT union has suspended a planned strike in schools across Nottingham.

Teachers were set to strike on Wednesday and Thursday of this week to defend their conditions. They struck on Wednesday of last week.

The union suspended the action after the council agreed to talks at conciliation service Acas without preconditions.

Strike at Swinton school

Teachers at Swinton school in Rotherham, south Yorkshire, struck on Friday of last week to defend the school’s special educational needs coordinator post.

Academy strike threat in Birmingham

Teachers across Birmingham could strike against academies.

The Tories are threatening around 30 primary schools in Birmingham with academy status. The NUT and NASUWT unions are set to ballot in several schools. If workers vote for strikes there could be walkouts later this month.
