Historian Stephen Mullen challenges the myth that there was minimal Scottish involvement in the transatlantic slave trade.

He explores the development of Glasgow as the “Merchant City” through its mercantile links with the slave trade and sugar, tobacco and cotton plantations of the New World.

Mullen’s book “It Wisnae Us!” examined the impact of slavery on Glasgow. In 2011, he led guided tours through the city.
