EDL racists march in Dewsbury

Issue No. 2310

Around 100 anti-racists marched through Dewsbury on Saturday 30 June in protest at a rally by the racist English Defence League (EDL). Hundreds more gathered outside the mosque.

The demonstration was called by Unite Against Fascism and backed by local trade unions.

Speakers criticised the authorities for allowing the EDL to gather outside Dewsbury’s town hall.

The EDL bussed in some 400 supporters for its rally. Five were arrested.

Protest against SDL

Campaigners in Dundee are organising to counter a planned march by the Scottish Defence League (SDL) on 1 September.

Dundee TUC and Unite Against Fascism organised a Dundee Together event last Wednesday.
