Haiti says no to UN occupation

by Christian Hogsbjerg
Issue No. 1923b

AN ADVISER to deposed Haitian president Aristide has spoken out against the occupation of his country by foreign troops.

Speaking at an emergency press conference at the ESF, Dr Serge Louis said, “The US and France directed a coup, and now they are engaged with the UN to legitimise it. They are sending troops from Brazil, Chile and Argentina with blue helmets to try and control the country.”

Aristide was re-elected in 2000 with 92 percent of the vote. But in February this year he was overthrown and forced into exile.
