The National Union of Students (NUS) held its first mobilisation meeting for its national demonstration on the 21 November on Friday of last week in Manchester.

NUS president Liam Burns spoke about attacks on education, workfare, youth unemployment, the government’s racist immigration policies and the crisis at London Met. He argued that the demonstration should bring all of these issues together.

The case studies from different students’ unions showed that the NUS is gearing up for a large mobilisation and building links with trade unions. The NUS demonstration is a big opportunity and the task now is to turn that into a reality.
