Inhospitable Landscape

This exhibition plays with the idea of humans feeling uncomfortable in their environment and a sense of society being inhospitable.

It uses the physical landscape as a framework for exploring social and cultural landscapes. One video explores the concept of human society as an unwanted guest, disrupting an otherwise balanced planet.

Inhospitable Landscape is on at the Wolstenholme Creative Space, Liverpool L1 4JJ, until 25 November. For more details go to

It includes posters, adverts, movie and annuals, as well as original footage of 70 films from the Scottish Screen Archive. It traces the changing patterns of cinema-goers and places this in a historical context.

The show is on at the National Library of Scotland, Edinburgh EH1 1EW, until 28 October. Go to
