Don't Argos it, strike for pensions!

Issue No. 2321

Distribution workers in the Unite union at retail giant Argos were set to strike for four days this week to defend their pensions.

There are to be picket lines at 6am from Wednesday to Saturday at a number of distribution centres around Britain.

The company closed its final salary pension scheme in June. It is now trying to push 2,300 workers off the scheme onto a cheaper alternative linked to the stock market. Many workers could lose tens of thousands of pounds.
