Defend young people in Hackney

Issue No. 2322

Campaigners have called on Hackney council, east London, to set up a review of police measures targeting young people.

These include dispersal zones and stop and search. Over 1,000 people signed the Stop Criminalising Hackney Youth (SCHY) petition.

Josie, 15, has been stopped and searched twice. “My white friends were told to go,” she said. “The police said it didn’t concern them. It’s intimidating. We don’t want to sit on corners but there’s no jobs.”
