Joel Bakan is the director of what promises to be one of this winter’s big movies, The Corporation, which features Michael Moore, Naomi Klein and Noam Chomsky, among others.

Joel’s new book of the same name has just come out.

In it he exposes the history of corporations, often by interviewing those who run them.

He shows how what happened at companies like Enron was not the result of a few “bad apples”.

It’s readable and damning, and it’s great to see the aspirations of the anti-capitalist movement being celebrated.
Joel will be in Bookmarks bookshop to talk about his book on Thursday 28 October at 6.30pm.

Also, China Miéville, award-winning author of Perdido Street Station and The Scar, will talk about his brilliant new novel, Iron Council, on Tuesday 9 November at 6.30pm.

Entry to both events is free.

Reserve a place by phoning 020 7638 1848, or e-mail enquiries@

The events will be held at Bookmarks, the socialist bookshop, 1 Bloomsbury Street, London WC1B 3QE (Tottenham Court Road tube).
