The chief constable of West Yorkshire Police, Norman Bettison, resigned last week.
He was the most senior serving officer associated with the police cover up that followed the 1989 Hillsborough disaster.
He resigned two days after Maria Eagle MP accused him of boasting about “fitting up Liverpool fans”.
She said that a witness claimed Bettison said South Yorkshire Police was “trying to concoct a story that all the Liverpool fans were drunk and we were afraid that they were going to break down the gates”.
Bettison should not receive his police pension and should be stripped of his knighthood.
