Warm reception at ESF

THE BALLOT of 290,000 civil service workers in the PCS union is set to end on Friday of this week.

If we are successful we intend to kick off our campaign against 104,000 job cuts with a strike on Friday 5 November.

PCS delegates to the European Social Forum in London last weekend got a lot of support and solidarity from trade unionists from across Europe. The representative from the European TUC, who chaired one of the meetings, started it by saying that she wanted to offer her solidarity to the PCS.

Thousands of people at the ESF signed our petition against the job cuts.

French, Greek, German and British trade unionists came up to us asking how they could help our campaign.

It showed how it is not just a fight in Britain but across Europe.

We need this solidarity from other unions.
