Former prime minister Tony Blair’s insight into warmongering is in demand. He has been invited to open the ominously named Institute for Security and Resilience at University College London on 13 November.

Councils to send poor away
London councils could send homeless families hundreds of miles away when benefit caps come in next April. At least 17 have already started sending people out of London.
Illegal to close public libraries?
Councils cutting library services are at risk of breaking the law. A select committee report points out councils’ legal duty to provide a “comprehensive and efficient” library service. Around 600 public libraries are under threat.
