Around 200 students at the School School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in central London voted in a student union general meeting to occupy in solidarity with the people of Gaza.
The vote was passed unanimously. Speakers at the meeting expressed their horror at the carnage in Gaza and their solidarity with Palestinians resisting Israeli aggression.
Around 50 students are now occupying the Brunei Gallery on campus. The union is demanding that SOAS create academic links with Al Aqsa University in Gaza and that management condemns foreign secretary William Hague's statements backing the Israelis.
The occupation is open ended. Send messages of support to [email protected] and follow @SOAS4gaza on Twitter. Go to soasoccupy.wordpress.com for more details.
