Lecturers to walk out at Queen Mary

Lecturers at Queen Mary University in east London were set to strike on Thursday of this week over redundancies and attacks on conditions.

Management wants to impose a new performance management system without negotiation with the workers’ UCU union. It has embarked on several rounds of job cuts.

Action continues in Stratford pay row

Teachers at Stratford Academy in east London struck on Tuesday of this week in an ongoing dispute with their headteacher. The NUT and NASUWT union members had been taking action short of a strike as part of a national campaign.

But their head responded by imposing a 15 percent pay cut—sparking walkouts. Teachers planned to walk out again on Thursday of this week.
