Bristol post workers vote to strike against their management

Issue No. 2330

Postal workers in the CWU union at the Royal Mail delivery depot in Mead Street, Bristol, have voted to strike by over 80 percent.

The dispute is with managers at Mead Street. The union says they are breaking national agreements and imposing unreasonable workloads

David Wilshire, CWU Bristol branch secretary, said, “Our members have overwhelmingly rejected the heavy handed approach of Royal Mail at this depot. The company now needs to appreciate how serious the situation is and stop burying their heads in the sand.”

Any strike is likely to hit the Christmas mail in the BS4 and BS14 postcodes. The union is holding a “final meeting” with managers this Friday, David added.
