Anti-cuts group UK Uncut targeted more than 40 branches of tax-dodging coffee chain Starbucks on Saturday of last week.
In central London, primary school teacher Grace brought her eight week old son to a Regent Street Starbucks.
“It’s his first protest,” she told Socialist Worker. “This is about Starbucks but it’s about much wider issues too. It’s about how this government is targeting the poor.” In Portsmouth protesters slapped Starbucks with an “Asbo”.
In York 30 protesters were joined by scores of passers-by as they gave out free coffee, tea and cakes outside their local Starbucks.
Protesters spotted comedian Jimmy Carr inside the shop, but of course he wasn’t there to protest. It seems tax dodgers stick together.
