Burgers - where's the beef?

Issue No. 2340

Food is often processed into products with a longer shelf life.

The ingredients going into processed food are often of a lower quality.

Producers add ingredients to make this taste better, bulk it out and make more profit.

A standard beefburger is supposed to contain at least 62 percent beef—but for value burgers this falls to just 47 percent.

Advanced meat recovery means scraping or shaving meat from bone after the main cuts have been removed.

This meat is not supposed to contain bone. But tests have shown that some contains central nervous system tissue.
