Socialist Worker appeal ... £37,921 and rising

Issue No. 1925

Readers have been ringing in from all over the country with fundraising ideas and donations for our appeal.

One young woman has offered to organise a club night to raise funds for the paper.

“I bought the paper every day at the European Social Forum. I thought it was great, but it must be really hard work to do,” she says.

People are organising all sorts of events from sponsored bike rides to piano concerts, as well as ring rounds to ask regular buyers for donations.

Janet Maiden says, “I’m a nurse and I’m collecting donations from union stewards. This week I sold out of papers. One of the caterers has offered to help and she now sells papers to her colleagues every week.”

‘I’ve read Socialist Worker for 20 years, and it has always been an invaluable resource—not just in its excellent news coverage, but also by being at the forefront of the movement. The rank and file is alive and kicking—thank god Frank Chapple isn’t.’
Darren O’Grady, Natfhe member and former electrician

‘I think the paper is essential, because if you don’t get the information from Socialist Worker you won’t get the information.’

Paul Garraway, postal worker
