SOCIALIST WORKER last week reported on the settlement at Eurostar. Mick Lynch, RMT union branch secretary at Eurostar, responds

Issue No. 1925

NOT EVERYONE is happy with any settlement, but your Eurostar worker correspondent underestimates the value of our deal at Eurostar.

The minimum increase under the deal is £700, not £400, with many members gaining in the thousands.

Just as important is the fact that we have demonstrated that strike action and solidarity can bring victory and real improvement in pay and conditions.

We will keep all issues on the boil and if we don’t achieve real improvements in travel facilities in the new year we will recommend further action by all of our Eurostar members.

THIRTEEN hundred engineering and ground staff at rail freight company EWS began a ban on overtime, rest day working and covering higher grade duties on Tuesday of this week.
