Nazis not respectable

WHITE RIOT is the new book by co-editor of the anti-fascist Searchlight magazine Nick Lowles. It tells the terrifyingly true story of the assorted racist psychopaths and crackpots who make up the Nazi terrorist group Combat 18. Combat 18 was formed in the early 1990s out of the gangs of thugs who guarded the meetings of the Nazi British National Party (BNP).

Many of these thugs felt that the BNP was becoming too respectable in its attempts to win votes, and wanted to form a hardcore organisation. The name Combat 18 comes from Adolf Hitler's initials-A equals one, H equals eight.

White Riot documents Combat 18's virulent hatred of Jews, its connections to football violence and its attacks on left wingers. It also looks at the vicious infighting which led to the murder of one Combat 18 member by another.

Some members had the outlandish idea of setting up a white 'Aryan' homeland in Essex. Combat 18 also attempted to launch bomb attacks on its enemies-including sportswoman Sharron Davies for daring to be married to black athlete Derek Redmond.

The book shows Combat 18's role in organising gangs of white thugs from around Britain to go to Oldham during last year's election campaign to attack Asians. This sparked the revolt of Asians against racism in that town. White Riot reminds us that, no matter what they say, Nazis can never be respectable.
