Socialist Worker

AROUND 70 members of the Unison United Left met last Saturday in Liverpool after the march in support of striking social workers.

It was a very good meeting, and was dominated by the need to raise support for the social workers.

Jon Rogers, the United Left candidate for general secretary in the upcoming Unison elections, spoke about the union’s need to debate a political strategy. He believes the union is too close to New Labour.

He needs to be nominated by 25 branches to stand in the elections. Every Unison activist should be trying to get their branch to back Jon.
