Teachers at Alec Reed Academy in Ealing, west London, called off a planned three-day strike this week after winning a series of commitments from management.

NUT and NASUWT union members at the school have struck for three days so far in a dispute over workload and bullying.

This action, which won widespread support from parents and other trade unionists, forced management to retreat on a number of issues.

Management agreed no observations this week or in the foreseeable future that are in excess of the union’s agreed limit of three per year.

There will also be no subject reviews, mock Ofsted inspections, learning walks or drop-ins scheduled for the foreseeable future.

Unions were in talks over outstanding issues at the Acas conciliation service as Socialist Worker went to press.
