Tunis against assassination

Issue No. 2345

Tunisia saw huge protests on Saturday of last week to mark 40 days since the assassination of opposition politician Chokri Belaid in February.

Demonstrators blamed the ruling Ennahda party for the killing and demanded that the government resign.

Protesters chanted, “The people want a new revolution”.

Ennahda is now pushing through price rises on food and fuel.

Workers plan to strike in response.
