Issue No. 2349

One in three building sites in Wales and south west England has recently failed a safety inspection by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

The HSE inspected 439 sites and issued 110 enforcement notices. But 27 sites were so dangerous they were given prohibition notices to stop work immediately.

From 2011 to 2012 eight people died on building sites in the areas the HSE visited.

Ucatt the builders’ union has called for more inspections.
