Week of action in Sussex

Issue No. 2349

Students at Sussex university are taking part in a week of action against the privatisation of staff posts and the victimisation of student protesters.

University management won an injunction against protest on campus.

This made an eight week occupation illegal. Three students face charges of obstruction and two with criminal damage.

Students and supporters, including Defend the Right to Protest campaign, have called a protest outside their hearing on Thursday this week at Brighton Law Courts.

Workers in the Unison, Unite and UCU unions are set to vote on strikes in an indicative ballot.

Comedian Mark Steel spoke at a rally on Monday.
