Judges on strike across Tunisia

Issue No. 2350

Judges in Tunisia struck last week against a threat to the independence of the judiciary. There was a split in their professional association.

A union of criminal judges formed out of the 2011 revolution called the strike.

If proposed changes go ahead the Supreme Judicial Council would be replaced with a Temporary Judicial Council with government officials on it.
