Week of action at Sussex University

Issue No. 2350

The campaign against the privatisation of 235 posts at Sussex University held a week of action last week.

The GMB, Unison and UCU unions have launched an indicative strike ballot. Whole departments have written to bosses in protest at the plans.

And 50 people joined a solidarity picket outside Brighton Law Courts last Thursday, at the first hearing for students arrested when police broke up their occupation.

Sussex student Michael told Socialist Worker, “They let people sit all around the courtroom because there wasn’t room in the gallery.”
