Socialist Worker

A soft touch for crooked cops

Issue No. 2352

In the last year 87 Scotland Yard police officers accused of sexual assault, racism and theft were allowed to resign before their case was completed.

This would allow them to keep working in the private security industry.

Of the remaining 274 officers and police staff who faced charges, another 115 were dismissed and 62 faced other action.

Only 20 were convicted.
