Votes for socialists in the local elections

Issue No. 2352

Some 120 candidates for the Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition (TUSC) stood in 117 wards in English and Welsh local elections on 2 May. 

Socialist Workers Party member Tom Woodcock standing for Cambridge Socialists won 118 votes in the Romsey ward of Cambridgeshire County council.

The TUSC candidate for the mayor of Doncaster, Mary Jackson, polled 1,916 votes or 3.1 percent.

Fourteen TUSC candidates received more than 5 percent of the vote.
