Inquest starts into deportation death of Jimmy Mubenga

Issue No. 2353

The inquest into the death of Jimmy Mubenga began on Monday of this week.

Jimmy, a healthy 46 year old, died while being forcibly deported to Angola in 2010. Three guards from G4S were restraining him on a BA plane at Heathrow airport.

The Crown Prosecution Service didn’t prosecute the G4S officers involved due to “insufficient evidence” in July 2012.

Jimmy’s family is asking people to attend the inquest at Isleworth Crown Court particularly on days when G4S personnel give evidence. It is set to last eight weeks.
