Bangladesh's workers get results

Issue No. 2353

Protests have continued in Bangladesh over the factory collapse last month that killed over 1,100 workers. They have won concessions from the government.

It has promised to allow garment workers to form unions without the consent of factory bosses. It also raised the minimum wage.

The government launched an industrial police force in 2010 to crush workers’ protests. But workers have shown that resistance can get results.
