Drivers begin 12 days of action

Bus drivers in the Unite union working for Bus Vannin on the Isle of Man began a 12-day strike on Saturday of last week. They are fighting wage cuts of up to £3,000 per year.

The company is owned by the island’s government and has tried to recruit drivers to scab. The strike is set to disrupt the TT motorcycle races. This is their fifth strike since December last year.

ISS cleaners set to strike

Train cleaners working for ISS on London Underground were set to strike for three days from 6am on Monday of next week, over pay and conditions. They are members of the RMT union.

Bosses refuse to pay workers the London living wage until they have worked for six months. They also plan other attacks, including  biometric clocking on.

nWorkers for Mitie on Transport for London have received letters threatening to sack them if they strike.

They were set to strike over redundancies and conditions from Monday of next week and begin an overtime ban from Saturday. They are in the RMT union.

Victory on the overground

Safety staff working for STM on London Overground won a victory by protesting and voting to strike.

Bosses tried to lock them out without pay for action short of a strike. But they have reinstated wages and agreed guaranteed hours contracts at the proper rate.

Aslef action against fascists

Train drivers’ union Aslef held its conference last week. Members voted to back drivers who refuse to transport the fascists of the EDL or BNP.
