Coors brewery in Burton expects a round of strikes

Issue No. 2355

Workers at the Molson Coors brewery in Burton-on-Trent are expected to vote for strikes this week.

The workers are in the Unite union and are voting over plans to slash the pay of 184 technicians by up to £9,000 a year.

The ballot result was set to be announced as Socialist Worker went to press.

The brewery is Britain’s biggest, producing lagers and beers including Carling, Grolsch and Coors Lite.

Bosses plan to sack the 455-strong workforce after 10 June and re-employ them on worse terms and conditions. But they have been bombarded with 2,500 emails of protest.
