MPs to get bumper pay rise

Issue No. 2362

Sir Ian Kennedy, head of the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority, has recommended that MPs get a 10 percent pay rise.

MPs currently have to scratch by on only £66,396. Sir Ian said they needed the rise of over £7,500 a year to stop them fiddling their expenses.

MPs will now vote on whether to accept the pay rise. That sounds fair, then.
